Transparency report

Every request we received. Every action we took.

We publish this report twice a year. It lists the government and law-enforcement requests we received, how we responded, and the moderation actions we took. The first edition covers our first six months of operation. Until we have a user-base of meaningful size, most numbers will simply be zero. We will publish anyway.

  1. Period covered

This report covers the period 1 January 2026, 30 June 2026. Next edition publishes on 31 July 2026 covering July–December 2026.

  2. Government and law-enforcement requests

Note on encryption. Even where we complied, what we produced was always metadata only, never the plaintext of vault contents, team blobs, or chat messages, because we hold ciphertext for those and have no key.

  5. Warrant canary

RainWillCome’s legal entity is still in registration. Until there is a registered company that could be served with legal process, a dated “we have received nothing” statement would be true only because there is not yet an entity to receive anything. So rather than post a dated affirmation now, we set out our standing commitment below, and we begin the dated warrant canary at public launch, renewed with every transparency report.

Our standing commitment, in force now and at launch:

    • RainWillCome has not implemented, and will not implement, any "ghost participant" or silent key-escrow mechanism. If we are ever compelled to weaken the encryption, we will remove this canary before complying.
    • The latest main branch on GitHub reflects the source running in production. There is no parallel build.

From public launch, this canary will state (dated, and renewed with each transparency report), that RainWillCome has received no National Security Letter, FISA order, or equivalent secret legal process from any jurisdiction, and no gag order preventing us from disclosing a legal request. Once that dated canary is live, the absence of the statement in a later report should be treated as a signal.

Note on Dutch law. The legal enforceability of a warrant canary under Dutch law is untested. We publish it because we believe it is honest and because removing it when compelled is the strongest signal we can give within the law.
